EOI ENGLISH CIVIL EXAM

EOI ENGLISH Competitive Exam:
The practical test will consist of the 3 parts described below:
1. Analysis of a contemporary prose text, literary or journalistic, from the 20th or 21st century, where the applicant will demonstrate their knowledge of the type of text proposed and command of the language. The following may be asked:
– Questions to verify comprehension of the text and its textual typology.
– Questions related to language usage (paraphrasing, vocabulary, synonyms, antonyms, etc.)
– Pragmatic, semantic, syntactic, morphosyntactic, and stylistic questions related to the text.
The above points may be related to their didactic application in the classroom.
The maximum duration of this part will be 80 minutes.
2. Based on an audio document (C1 level or higher):
– Answering questions about global comprehension and/or details posed by the panel.
– Summarising the information contained in the audio (approximately 200 words) or composing a piece related to some aspect of the audio (approximately 250 words), as determined by the panel. The audio document will last between 5 and 6 minutes and will be played twice. The duration of this part will have a maximum time of 50 minutes (including the two listens).
3. An inverse translation of a contemporary literary or journalistic text (approximately 200 words) without a dictionary and a direct translation of a contemporary literary or journalistic text (approximately 200 words) without a dictionary. The duration of this part will have a maximum time of 50 minutes.
The total time for the three parts of the test will not exceed 3 hours. The panel may schedule breaks as they find necessary between the parts.
