馃拲Commitment is an act
Is this word "Commitment" meaningful to you?
Read how we fulfil it.
I'd like to offer you here a space to reflect upon the idea of commitment in life, but especially while you are with me in this English learning process.
The programme of my courses for performing with success any official exam can last from a minimum of 36 weeks (9 months) up to 48 weeks (12 months); it all depends on your real commitment to the process and weekly exercise. See fees here.
The "Terms" or "Quarters" divide any of these courses into 3 different stages that can be of 12 week (3 months) up to 16 weeks (4 months) each. No matter what way you choose, the fee you fit in or how you pay it... at any of these long-term English learning courses you are going to face inevitably and hopefully- for that will mean you progress- 3 different stages:
1STQ "Set the habit!"
2NDQ "Excel at the next level!"
3RDQ "Reach your Goal!
Why those stages? Because I have experienced them and I have already accompanied many people and I know the valleys, meadows and hills of it. Trust me.
So, my intention with this is that you don't give up, whatever happens in the journey I want you to meet your destiny. I am here to support you, to guide you, to cheer you up.
In my opinion, the hazards that can assault you have the same root: neglect or distraction. This might arise - it usually does unconsciously in one way or another- at some point of the process and it will affect gravely your self-esteem to the point of even making you quit your English goal or find any other way to boycott yourself. For example, suddenly, you might want to travel, learn another language or go to a party just before the official exam day. All distracting activities that -you know very well yourself- misguide you.
This is not a surprise for me anymore, although I find sometimes difficult to express and tell you that all you need to do is to keep going and trust your work, yourself and our project together. The effort you make to avoid those tempting moments is usually rewarded with a dramatic improvement. To help you cross those hardships is part of my coaching.
In times of distress, please, listen to me. Do not break or destroy what you have already built. The fears will disappear as soon as you put pen to paper (and I mean it literally: exercise what is being said in the Checklist, complete that essay or that article I asked you to do one week ago...); sometimes you just need to speak your truth to me, open your heart and tell me what is going on. You'll see that I listen to you with all my heart and I know that you will respect my work and opinion about it.
This is a learning-teaching process where we are together and you can always take the right direction and reaffirm your steps to fulfil that commitment.
I'm going to ask you directly 3 simple questions here, that you can answer them in a comment below or by sending me an email.
I'll be pleased to know more about you and if you are already my coachee, do it!, I want to find out how the land lies between you and your goal these days of August.
These are the questions:
1- How often do you read in English? Be specific about the kind of texts.
2- What part of the language you feel better at and why? Speaking, Listening, Reading or Writing? Mention how you usually study grammar or vocab.
3- What is your goal and how are you going to reach it? Why do you think I can help you to reach your goal?
I can guarantee you that after my language coaching the day of the official exam you will feel strong enough to shut the mouth of all those internal dragons and feel in peace with your performance. But first, let's sign the pledge.
“Assume the feeling of your wish fulfilled and observe the route that your attention follows.”
