FIRST EXAM (part A + part B)

FIRST EXAM - part A (PRACTICAL)

Completion of a PRACTICAL EXERCISE to verify that the applicant possesses the scientific training and command of the technical skills corresponding to the specialty they are applying for.

A) General Considerations

- Writing errors that show confusion or lack of knowledge of the lexicon used will be penalized with 0.1 points per error. (Example: "I am writting").

- Grammatical errors that prevent the understanding of the content will be penalized by completely invalidating the answer.

- Grammatical errors that do not prevent this understanding will be penalized with 0.1 points. (Example: errors of prepositional regime "look him", errors of verbal regime: "I don't mind go").

- The deduction of points for the described typology will be applied to the final grade obtained in each exercise of the exam.

- Mistakes made in words that are repeated will be counted only once.

B) Development of the exam

The exam will consist of 3 DIFFERENT EXERCISES: AN AUDIO EXERCISE, A TEXT COMMENTARY, AND A TRANSLATION EXERCISE.

In the AUDIO EXERCISE, which will be heard twice consecutively, the candidate will have to complete the gaps in an exercise (gap-filling) with the literal information understood, as well as an exercise with questions posed by the panel in which comprehension, both direct and inferential, of the listened audio is assessed, with the third exercise consisting of creating a summary of the information presented in the audio. To award the grade, it will be taken into account whether the candidate demonstrates oral comprehension of the information heard, the ability to synthesize said information, as well as the correctness of written expression in the provided answer. This exercise will last 45 minutes.

• In THE TEXT COMMENTARY EXERCISE, based on a text written in current prose of a non-exclusively literary nature, the candidate will answer questions about the type and genre of the fragment, the communicative functions, the stylistic resources and any other questions posed by the panel in this regard. To award the grade, it will be taken into account whether the candidate demonstrates the morphosyntactic, lexical-semantic and pragmatic knowledge required in the questions, as well as the correctness of written expression in the provided answer. This exercise will last 75 minutes.

The TRANSLATION EXERCISE will consist of a reverse translation of a current literary or journalistic text, without a dictionary, and a direct translation of a current literary or journalistic text, without a dictionary. This exercise will last 60 minutes.

The total time for the three parts of the exam will be 3 hours. The candidate may only use a black or blue ink pen. The use of spell checkers or pens with erasable ink will not be allowed. The use of any additional material will not be permitted.

C) Evaluation and Grading Criteria
