JANE EYRE Charlotte Brontë
Set the habit to read in English.
Make it even as a weekly ritual where you prepare yourself to be in a specific mood, place at a specific time in your own home, sweet home. The sofa or armchair will do more good to you in this activity than reading lying on the bed, not to mention in bed!, it is advisable that you read in your second language at daylight.
If possible, do not play music while reading for the music dictates you emotions and this is about paying full attention to what you are reading and understanding. It is about recreating internally Charlotte Brontë's voice telling you the story.
By creating a silent space outwardly, you will be able to process, enjoy and taste what is being written there, inwardly. And then, once fully filled with that highly skillful language usage of Charlotte Brontë -if well acquired- you will be able to echo her language, her writing style most probably for a while, or for life -who knows?- in your own creative writings.
Underline words or expressions you don't know, but search them in another moment, since keeping the flow of reading is your task. Train your mind in guessing the meaning.
Read the original novel (not in simple English for graded reader) and watch the movie from 2011.
After enjoying this process during maximum 12 weeks, answer these questions, I'll give you, as I always do, some feedback.
Here I leave you a video of the Brontë Parsonage in Haworth, it might inspire you to create with your own books, desk, chair or armchair, sofa and cushions that segregated- & sacred- needed space: the trench that will protect you from the disruptive and distracting phone with the Internet invasion.
